J&K

During a pre-event press conference held at SKICC, the Chief Coordinator of the G20 event, Harsh Vardhan Shringla, highlighted the extensive preparations that have taken place in Srinagar.

The way G20 was organized in other places, the same way it will be organised in J&K as the mainstream activity," Singh remarked.

The G-20 delegates could see for themselves what Jammu and Kashmir have been through because of the conflict which was primarily being ignited, coordinated and sustained from somewhere else.

Delhi's decision to host the G20 meeting in Srinagar has greatly encouraged J&K to outperform itself, a chance to redeem the status before terrorism from across the border ruined it.

In his remarks, J&K's Chief Secretary, Arun Kumar Mehta, highlighted the increasing trend of tourism influx in the region over the past few years, with 1.88 crore tourists visiting Jammu and Kashmir in 2022.

The Kashmir Valley in recent years has witnessed an unprecedented rise in tourism, thanks to the scenic beauty and the culture of the region.

Be it a local citizen or anyone else associated with the tourism industry, everyone here in Kashmir is excited for the grand G-20 Summit.

The live phone-in programme has allowed people to connect directly with the concerned officials, providing them with a platform to voice their concerns and grievances, they said.

“We are hopeful that the countries that had put travel advisories restraining their citizens from travelling to Kashmir will be lifted, and we will see a huge footfall of foreign tourists in the valley post-G20 summit in Kashmir."

As a result, employment opportunities will open up for the local people in the near future.
