India US trade deal

Indian stock markets ended the week with gains as the India–US trade deal and RBI’s status quo on rates helped indices recover from Budget-related volatility.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said the India–US Interim Trade Agreement framework will expand market access, boost exports, and strengthen the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

EAM S Jaishankar said the India–US trade agreement is in its final stage of detailing and will soon open a new phase in bilateral relations.

India will roll out the first phase of its trade agreement with the United States within days, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said.

Union Ministers Amit Shah and J.P. Nadda have welcomed the India–US trade deal, saying reduced tariffs will boost trade.

At an NDA Parliamentary Party meeting in New Delhi, leaders discussed the Union Budget 2026 and Viksit Bharat 2047, while congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi on recent trade agreements.

A phone conversation between PM Modi and Presiden Trump has cleared major hurdles in the stalled India–US trade deal, with Washington agreeing to reduce tariffs on Indian goods to 18%.

President Trump announced a trade deal with India that will cut tariffs from 25% to 18%, following a phone call with Prime Minister Modi.

Amid the process to finalise the Trade Deal with India intensified, the US President Donald Trump and the Prime Minister of India held talks on a call on Thursday.
