Indian equity markets staged a powerful rally on Tuesday, driven by investor enthusiasm over the finalisation of the long-awaited India-US trade agreement. The announcement lifted market confidence and triggered broad-based buying across sectors.

Both frontline indices closed with robust gains, reflecting renewed optimism on Dalal Street. The BSE Sensex soared 2,072.67 points, or 2.54 per cent, to end the session at 83,739.13.

The NSE Nifty followed suit, climbing 639.15 points, or 2.55 per cent, to settle at 25,727.55.

Market analysts highlighted key technical levels for the Nifty. They said the index holds strong support in the 25,500–25,600 range, while the 25,900-26,000 zone remains a crucial psychological and supply resistance area.

The rally followed remarks by US President Donald Trump, who announced that the trade agreement would reduce reciprocal tariffs on Indian exports to 18 per cent.

Investors interpreted the move as a major step towards stronger bilateral trade relations.

Market participants expect the deal to support Indian corporates, enhance export competitiveness, and strengthen medium-term economic prospects.

The positive outlook encouraged aggressive buying in heavyweight stocks.

On the Sensex, shares of Adani Ports, Bajaj Finance, IndiGo, and PowerGrid emerged as leading gainers, posting solid advances during the session.

In contrast, Tech Mahindra and Bharat Electronics Limited were the only constituents to close in the red.

Sectoral performance remained uniformly strong, with all indices ending higher.

The Nifty Realty index outperformed, rising more than 4 per cent.

Indices tracking chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and consumer durables also recorded gains exceeding 3 per cent each.

The rally extended beyond large-cap stocks. Broader markets joined the upswing, with the Nifty MidCap 100 index advancing 2.84 per cent and the Nifty SmallCap 100 index gaining 2.82 per cent.

Analysts said the widespread gains underscored investor confidence, supported by favourable trade developments and expectations of improved economic momentum.

Experts also pointed to currency movements as a supportive factor.

The Indian rupee strengthened sharply after the trade deal announcement.

It appreciated by Rs 1.28, or nearly 1.40 per cent, marking its best single-day gain since December 2018.

Market specialists said a stronger rupee could revive foreign institutional investor inflows and further stabilise domestic markets in the near term.
