Delhi's air quality remained in the ‘very poor’ category on Sunday morning, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) reading a hazardous 335.

A dense layer of smog blanketed Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) morning as the air quality index (AQI) persisted at “very poor” levels.

Data released by the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM) in Pune, mentioned in an India Today report, indicates that stubble burning accounts for just 1.3% of air pollution in the capital

The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi has dropped to the 'very poor' category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). As of 7:15 AM Monday, the 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 307.

There is 'severe' pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR), which includes Noida, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Faridabad.

With an average 24-hour AQI of 397 on Tuesday, the air quality index approached the verge of the "severe" category.

At twelve of Delhi's monitoring stations, the air quality index (AQI) recorded levels of severe 422.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai suggested the people to switch- off  their vehicles while waiting at the traffic signals.
