MS Dhoni calls Ian Bell back even after his dismersal

Dhoni decided to remember a request for a run-out against former English hitter Ian Bell during an away Test match against England. On the third day of the Test at Nottingham, the incident took place. Aeon Morgan hit the ball towards the leg side in the last delivery before the tea break. The ball appeared to easily pass the boundary rope, but Praveen Kumar blocked its path. He sent the ball in Dhoni’s direction, and Bell quickly moved Bell well outside the white line to knock the stumps loose. The decision was submitted to the television authorities by the on-field umpires, and the replay confirmed that it was a run-out.

Ian Bell surprised by MS Dhoni’s call

Ian Bell was surprised by the verdict because he may have believed the ball had reached the boundary line. Indian players and both English batters left the field after Bell was run out. However, MS Dhoni believed the action to be immoral and decided to drop the appeal after consulting with the rest of the squad.

Dhoni took his decision in the middle of tea break

During the tea break, Dhoni informed the umpires of his choice. It was successful since Bell was given an additional life. After Tea, he continued to bat with Morgan and amassed 159 runs until being dismissed by Yuvraj Singh. Despite India’s humbling 319-run loss in the game, Dhoni’s action undoubtedly set an example.

Same incident occures on Day 5 of Ashes

On Day 5 of the second Ashes Test at Lord’s, Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey unexpectedly threw Jonny Bairstow under his arm. At Bairstow, Cameron Green made a ferocious bouncer effort. The England hitter moved off his mark after the delivery to speak with his partner Ben Stokes. The Australian team loudly requested a run-out as soon as Carrey’s throw shook the stumps. The third umpire ruled in their favour, creating a raucous scene in the Lord’s crowd.
