While praising Rahul Dravid’s tenure as coach and labelling it a triumph, Gautam Gambhir reminded captain Rohit Sharma that the squad wants to win the World Cup for the nation and not for any one player. In response to a query concerning Dravid’s future as India’s head coach, Gambhir responded. After the ODI World Cup, the former captain of India’s term came to an end, and if rumors are to be believed, he is not going to ask for an extension.
Gambhir stated that if Dravid wishes to continue, his contract should unquestionably be extended. “Dravid’s head coaching contract need to be automatically extended. He stated, “It is an incorrect precedent to judge a coach based on just one match given the type of cricket India played during the World Cup.”
The team wants to win the trophy for head coach Dravid in recognition of the sort of work he has done to improve the players, Rohit had stated on the eve of the final match against Australia.
The way he supported the players through tough times, particularly in the T20 World Cup, where we did well until that quarterfinal, where we were eliminated. It was beneficial how he briefed the players and responded to various circumstances. We should do it for him because he wants to be a part of this momentous occasion,” the Indian captain had stated.
Rohit shouldn’t have made such a comment to the media, according to Gambhir. The previous opener used the 2011 World Cup as an example, during which a number of Indian players publicly declared their desire to win the tournament in honor of Sachin Tendulkar.
“Every coach and player aspires to be the World Cup winners. He ought to be given the opportunity to be renewed if that is what he desires. There’s nothing greater than consistency. Nothing would ever make sense to me. It also transpired in 2011 under our tenure. It is incorrect to declare that you desire to win the World Cup as a person, regardless of who that is.

“Your goal is to win the World Cup on behalf of the whole nation. Additionally, avoid saying such things in the media if you choose to say them. Hold it within of you. In actuality, the nation’s World Cup victory is more significant. When everyone claimed that we were attempting to win the World Cup for one person, I responded, “No, I want to win the Cup for my country,” to the same question that I had been asked in 2011. I took up the bat in support of my nation. Thus, Rohit was probably not supposed to say this.
