“Team did not perform good”: Rohit Sharma over World Cup 2023 loss

With his team’s performance against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on the big day, Rohit Sharma, who was devastated by the loss, said that his team did not perform good enough with bat that day. After winning the toss, Pat Cummins elected to bat first for India on a treacherous pitch that appeared “very, very dry.”

Yes, Rohit Sharma kept up his aggressive behavior and demonstrated it by hitting 47 off 31 balls in the championship match, once again creating a foundation as India easily outscored 80 in the opening powerplay. But the scoring rate dropped in the afternoon as the pitch grew slower and the ball grew softer due to the intense heat. Shubman Gill left India early, but Rohit led the way.

India had won ten straight games and appeared to be headed for an 11-0 lead when the host team faltered under pressure.

“The result has not gone our way. We were not good enough today. We tried everything but it wasn’t supposed to be. 20-30 runs more would have been good, KL and Kohli were stitching a good partnership and we were looking at 270-280 but we kept losing wickets,” Rohit Sharma said.
