PAK vs BAN: In a landmark moment for Bangladesh cricket, the team completed a 2-0 series sweep over Pakistan with a six-wicket victory on the fifth day of the second Test at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. This win marks only their fourth Test victory on foreign soil in the last seven years and their first-ever series win against Pakistan.
Chasing a target of 185, Bangladesh’s top order played with remarkable composure. Zakir Hasan set the foundation with a solid 40, while Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mominul Haque contributed steady knocks of 38 and 34, respectively. Despite losing wickets at crucial moments, the experienced duo of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan guided Bangladesh to the target, with Shakib sealing the win in style with a six and a drive through the covers.
This loss extended Pakistan’s troubling winless streak at home, marking their tenth consecutive Test without a victory. Since their last home win against South Africa in February 2021, Pakistan has drawn four Tests and lost six, suffering series defeats to Australia, England, and now Bangladesh. With this victory, Bangladesh moved up to fourth place in the World Test Championship standings, overtaking England.
Pakistan 274 & 172 lost to Bangladesh 262 & 185/4 in 56 overs (Zakir Hasan 40, Najmul Hossain Shanto 38, Mominul Haque 34; Mir Hamza 1-46, Khurram Shahzad 1-40, Salman Agha 1-17) by six wickets.
