New Zealand clinched a historic 2-0 series win against India, ending India’s 12-year unbeaten streak in home Test series. The 113-run victory at the MCA Stadium on Saturday marked India’s first home series defeat since 2012, when Alastair Cook’s England squad beat India 2-1.
The series opener in Bengaluru saw India dismissed for just 46 in the first innings under overcast skies, setting them under pressure. New Zealand capitalized with Rachin Ravindra’s century and crucial support from Tim Southee, overcoming India’s fightback efforts from Sarfaraz Khan and Rishabh Pant, who scored 99. Chasing 107, New Zealand secured the first victory comfortably.
In Pune, New Zealand’s bowlers restricted India to 156 in the first innings, setting a 103-run lead. Skipper Tom Latham’s composed 86 built on the advantage, establishing a daunting 359-run target. Despite Yashasvi Jaiswal’s brisk start, India’s middle order collapsed, sealing New Zealand’s 2-0 series win and ending India’s reign of 18 consecutive home series wins since 2013.
