India Boys & Girls Teams Finish In Sixth & Seventh Place At World Junior Squash Championships

India’s junior squash teams wrapped up their campaigns at the World Junior Squash Championships with the boys finishing in sixth place and the girls securing seventh.

The championships concluded on Tuesday.

In the boys’ team event, India faced a tough challenge against England in the match for fifth place. The contest went down to the wire, with England emerging victorious 2-1. The results were:

  • Shaurya Bawa triumphed over Yusuf Sheikh with scores of 3-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-7.
  • Yuvraj Wadhwani fell to Bailey Malik in a close match, ending 11-5, 9-11, 8-11, 14-16.
  • Ayaan Vazilalli lost to Dylan Roberts, with scores of 11-6, 9-11, 9-11, 7-11.

In the girls’ team event, India clinched seventh place with a 2-1 victory over New Zealand. The results were:

  • Shameena Riaz was defeated by Ella Lash with scores of 7-11, 12-10, 13-11, 4-11, 4-11.
  • Nirupama Dubey secured a win against Anabel Gemmell, 9-11, 11-6, 11-4, 8-11, 11-9.
  • Unnati Tripathi emerged victorious over Ella Hill, with scores of 11-4, 11-3, 11-6.

The strong performances of the Indian teams highlighted their competitive spirit and resilience throughout the tournament.

World Junior Squash Championships

The World Junior Squash Championships is an annual tournament that showcases the best young squash players from around the world.

The tournament features individual and team events for boys and girls, with players aged 19 and under competing.
