ICC World Cup 2023: After a Visa Dispute, Babar Azam’s Pakistani Cricket Team Is Scheduled To Arrive In India On September 27

Just days before the ICC ODI World Cup 2023, a remarkable turn of events saw the Pakistan cricket team acquire their Indian visas, putting an end to a tense period of uncertainty. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) expressed great displeasure over the issue of the visa’s delay. Let’s explore the specifics of this visa drama as the crew gets ready to depart for India on September 27.

A visa scandal develops for the Pakistani team

The Pakistan cricket squad started the process of obtaining Indian visas on September 19, with a typical processing time of five working days. But as the departure date approached, there was still no confirmation of visas, which increased the team’s and PCB officials’ anxiety.

PCB’s stable position

In the midst of this visa issue, PCB did not remain mute. They voiced their concern to the International Cricket Council (ICC) and emphasized how this delay could negatively affect the team’s World Cup preparations. They emphasized that at that time, Pakistan was the only competing team without visas, raising concerns about fairness.

PCB’s ICC Appeal

The PCB posed numerous important queries in an official email to the ICC. They asked what actions the international cricket governing body planned to take to address the visa issue. In order to ensure that visas would be issued to all participating countries, they also inquired as to whether formal confirmations had been obtained from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) or the Indian government.

Impact on Team Preparations

Due to the visa uncertainty, Pakistan had to cancel their original plans for a team-bonding trip to the UAE before heading to India. This disruption forced them to rework their travel plans, including booking new flights. The situation was particularly frustrating given the upcoming warm-up game against New Zealand on September 29.
