China successfully launched a Long March-11 carrier rocket into space on Tuesday, launching three satellites into designated orbit.
The rocket was launched from waters off the coast of Yangjiang, Guangdong Province, south China, at 6:39 a.m. (Beijing Time).
The mission was the 503rd in the Long March carrier rocket series.
It’s China’s eighth sea-based rocket launch and the second from the South China Sea.
Shiyan 24C satellites are developed by the Shanghai Academy of Spaceflight Technology. It is said to be for investigating the space environment.
The China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology in Beijing produced the Long March 11 rocket model, which has a length of 20.8 metres, a diameter of 2 metres, and a liftoff weight of 58 metric tonnes.
China’s Long March 11 launcher is reportedly built around a YF-50 main engine and performs orbital circularization after the three CZ-11 stages finish their job. Its initial orbit demonstrated that it can undertake orbit-lowering maneuvers after payload separation. It can launch satellites into low-Earth orbit or sun-synchronous orbit.
