5 Quick Home Remedies To Get Rid Of Sweaty Feet

Sweaty feet, medically known as plantar hyperhidrosis, affect many people, particularly during the summer months.

Not only can it be uncomfortable, but it often leads to bad odour and fungal infections if not addressed.

Fortunately, several effective home remedies can help keep your feet dry and fresh—using ingredients you already have at home.

1. Black tea soak

One of the most effective treatments for sweaty feet is a black tea soak.

Tea contains tannic acid, which acts as a natural astringent and helps tighten skin pores, reducing sweat production.

How to Use: Boil two black tea bags in half a litre of water for 10 minutes.

Let it cool slightly, then soak your feet for 20–30 minutes. Repeat daily for best results.

2. Apple cider vinegar rinse

Apple cider vinegar helps balance the skin’s pH and has antibacterial properties that combat odour-causing bacteria.

How to Use: Mix one part vinegar with two parts water in a basin.

Soak your feet for 15–20 minutes once daily. Dry thoroughly afterward, as moisture can worsen the problem.

3. Baking soda powder treatment

Baking soda neutralises foot odour and absorbs excess moisture. It also helps maintain a healthy pH on the skin, discouraging bacterial growth.

How to Use: Sprinkle a small amount of baking soda inside your socks or shoes before wearing them.

Alternatively, soak your feet in warm water with three tablespoons of baking soda for 15 minutes.

4. Cornstarch for absorption

Cornstarch is a natural absorbent that can help keep your feet dry throughout the day.

Unlike talcum powder, it is fragrance-free and less likely to irritate sensitive skin.

How to Use: Dust a small amount of cornstarch on clean, dry feet before putting on socks.

Reapply once or twice daily if needed.

5. Epsom salt foot bath

Epsom salt draws out moisture, reduces inflammation, and fights odour-causing bacteria, making it an ideal remedy for sweaty and smelly feet.

How to Use: Add half a cup of Epsom salt to a basin of warm water and soak your feet for 20 minutes.

Pat your feet dry completely afterwards.

Always dry your feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, and wear breathable footwear and moisture-wicking socks.

These simple home treatments can be repeated regularly to keep your feet sweat-free and healthy all year round.
