Yogi Adityanath Extends Warm Greetings On Chhath Puja; Calls It Festival Of Faith & Discipline

Uttar Pradesh CM Adityanath shared a video message on the occasion of Chhath Puja, wishing that Chhathi Maiya’s grace remains upon everyone.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday extended heartfelt wishes to devotees celebrating Chhath Puja, one of the most revered festivals in northern India.

Sharing a video message on his official social media account ‘X’, the Chief Minister said, “Raua Sab Par Chhathi Maiya Ke Kripa Banal Rahe (May Chhathi Maiya’s blessings be upon you all).”

He added, “Special good wishes from our side to the mothers and sisters who observe the rigorous fast for their families.”

Emphasising the deeper spiritual meaning of the festival, CM Yogi described Chhath Puja as a confluence of faith, discipline, and devotion.

“Through Surya Upasana (worship of the Sun God), it conveys a message of light, energy, and balance. This is not merely a festival; it is the soul of our culture,” he said.

The Chief Minister prayed that Chhathi Maiya bless all devotees with success, health, prosperity, and happiness.

“May this sacred tradition continue to inspire future generations,” he added.

PM Modi Extends Greetings to Devotees

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also conveyed his warm wishes to devotees across the country as the four-day-long Chhath Mahaparva began with the ritual of Nahay-Khay.

“With the sacred ritual of Nahay-Khay, the four-day grand festival of Chhath is commencing auspiciously from today. My heartfelt best wishes to the devotees across the country, including in Bihar. My salutations and homage to all the observers of the fast!” PM Modi said on X.

Describing Chhath as a grand symbol of Indian culture, he further remarked, “On this sacred occasion, the scene visible at the Chhath ghats offers an amazing inspiration of familial and social harmony. The ancient tradition of Chhath has had a profound impact on our society”

PM Modi highlighted how Chhath has now become a global celebration, with Indian families abroad also participating wholeheartedly.

“Chhath Mahaparva is a unique confluence of faith, worship, and love for nature. In it, while offerings (arghya) are made to the setting and rising Sun God, the prasad also incorporates the diverse colours of nature. The songs and melodies of Chhath Puja remain filled with a wonderful sentiment of devotion and nature,” he said.

Furthermore, remembering Bihar’s Nightingale, the late Sharda Sinha, PM Modi added, “Today, on this great festival, I am sharing with all of you such songs of Chhathi Maiya, upon hearing which everyone will be spellbound.”

Chhath: A Global Cultural Celebration

On the first day of Chhath Puja, devotees known as Vratis take a holy dip and consume a simple sattvic meal of arwa chawal and lauki ki sabzi after prayers.

Moreover, devotees are likely to gather in large numbers along riverbanks and ponds to express their gratitude to the Sun God.

Tracing its roots to the Satyuga and Dwapara Yuga, Chhath is among the oldest forms of Sun worship, symbolising purity, gratitude, and renewal.

Indian communities across the globe, especially in Bihar, Jharkhand, and eastern Uttar Pradesh, celebrate it as a festival of light and devotion that unites faith, family, and culture.
