Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced that meat and liquor will not be sold in Prayagraj during Maha Kumbh 2025. Speaking to representatives of the saint community and various akhadas, he underscored the importance of respecting Sanatan traditions. The Chief Minister stated that the government is committed to honoring the sentiments of all participants, including sadhus and saints.
During the meeting, Adityanath discussed the need for a clean environment around the Triveni Sangam. He urged the saint community to cooperate in maintaining the cleanliness of the holy rivers. The Chief Minister also promised that land would be reserved in Prayagraj for the Samadhi of saints who attain salvation during the Kumbh.
Focus on Cow Protection Initiatives
Adityanath reiterated that cow slaughter is a crime in Uttar Pradesh and announced the state’s support for cow protection initiatives. He highlighted the existence of over 7,000 cow shelters in the state, home to more than 1.4 million cows. The Chief Minister called for collaboration from the saint community to promote cow service in ashrams.
Security and Community Engagement Prioritized
In terms of security, Adityanath requested that all saints and acharyas ensure proper verification of individuals staying in their ashrams. He emphasized that security is a top priority for the Maha Kumbh. Representatives of the saint community expressed gratitude for the Chief Minister’s direct engagement and support, recognizing his leadership as pivotal for the upcoming event. They voiced their commitment to making Maha Kumbh 2025 a message of peace and unity for the world.
