An FIR has been filed against Yoga Guru Ramdev for hurting religious sentiments of people, Rajasthan High Court has ordered Ramdev to appear at Barmer’s Chohtan police station for interrogation extending his stay on arrest.
Justice Kuldeep Mathur gave these directions on Monday while hearing a criminal miscellaneous petition by Ramdev praying for the quashing of the FIR.
As per the order, “The petitioner is directed to appear before the Investigating Officer for interrogation on 05.10.2023 at 11.30 am. The petitioner is further directed to appear before the Investigating Officer as and when called by him for interrogation.”
Ramdev has been ordered by the court to appear before the investigating officer whenever called by him. The government counsel will be producing the case diary in court on October 16. During the previous hearing of court has put a stay of Ramdev’s arrest and ordered him to appear before the investigating officer for interrogation but Yoga Guru failed to do so.
On February 5, Pathai Khan registered an FIR against Baba Ramdev for making inappropriate remarks against Muslims in an event in Barmer on February 2. Khan said, ” Ramdev had made his remarks deliberately so that a spirit of animosity and hatred is formed against Islam” and that they hurt feelings of crores of Muslims”.
Chohtan police had then booked him under the charges of inciting hatred and upsetting religious sentiments.
