Women gang-raped in Agra, Cries for help; Case filed

An Agra homestay worker was allegedly beaten, made to drink alcohol, and then sexually assaulted by a gang. There has been a video purportedly showing her pleading for assistance. Five people have been taken into custody including a woman.

The woman told police that when she tried to object, some men dragged her into a room and beat her. She had been made to drink by her friend and a few other people. According to PTI, she also claimed that a glass bottle had broken on her head.

A case has been filed under Indian Penal Code (IPC) for rape, assault, and other pertinent offences. In this case, four men and one woman have been taken into custody.

The victim of rape has been for medical examination.

She had worked for one and a half years as an employee of the homestay. She was being hauled into a room by a man and shouting for help in an alleged video that went viral.

“Please help me!”, she could be heard saying in the video, as a man dragged her inside a room. The clip also shows her lying on the ground, alleging “torture” by the men.

The woman is heard claiming in a different video that she was the target of blackmail because of an earlier, inappropriate video that was taken of her.

“Please save me! I have four daughters. They have dragged me, taken my phone away. They are blackmailing me using a video of mine. They have also taken money from me,” she said in the video.

Senior police officer Sadar Archana Singh stated that the Tajganj Police in Agra had been informed of a rape that had occurred at the hotel.

A case was filed in the case after the survivor’s claims were taken into consideration. According to the police official, the incident took place on Saturday night. She said that the homestay, a rented property, has been sealed after the incident.
