Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated ‘Miyawaki Forest’ in the Raj Bhavan complex on Saturday. Raj Bhavan officials, employees, principals, children of Raj Bhavan Upper Primary School, and Umeed Sanstha were present along with the Governor. A total of 4750 plants of 22 species were planted by mass participation in this program.
Addressing the program, the Governor said that human life runs only on oxygen. “Therefore, oxygen-providing trees and plants have an important role in life,” she opined. She said that nature wants to give us a lot; there is a need to explore it. “We should assimilate the good things from everywhere and implement them,” she remarked.
The Governor said that we should also take care of the planted trees and plants. We should show love towards the environment. The sight of beautiful nature pleases everyone’s eyes. Therefore, efforts should be made for greenery, rain, etc. She said that in ancient times, the meditation of sages was done in the company of nature, among trees and plants, hence everyone should make efforts for nature and tree plantation.
Afforestation was done in the Raj Bhavan complex using Japan’s Miyawaki method. In this method, plants of tree, herb, bush, and sub-shrub species are grown in groups in every square meter. Today, the plants planted mainly include Neem, Arjun, Kanji, Guava, Amla, Shisham, Drumstick, Saptaparna, Gulmohar, Mango, Kachnar, Jamun, Jatropha, Lemon Grass etc.
