Vote Counting Of Karanpur Assembly Seat Starts Today

Vote counting for the assembly seat in Karanpur, where voting was postponed due to a candidate’s death, started at 8 am on Monday. Many candidates’ fates will be determined by the final count, including Surendra Pal Singh of the BJP, who is running for more than just this seat. Counting is taking place on 17 counters at the Dr. Bheemrao Ambedkar Government College in Sriganganagar, the district under which the constituency comes, according to PTI.

Rupinder Singh fielded by Congress for seat

Friday’s election registered 81.38 percent voter turnout for the seat. According to Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Gupta, 14 tables will be used for the EVM counting process. In addition to the table reserved for tallying electronically transmitted postal ballots, two tables have been set up for the counting of paper ballots. The passing of Congress candidate and MLA Gurmeet Singh Koonar forced a postponement of the seat’s election. Congress fielded Koonar’s son Rupinder Singh as his candidate for the seat.

BJP won 115 seats in Rajasthan elections

After securing 115 out of 199 seats in the assembly elections, the BJP appointed Surendra Pal Singh as the minister of Rajasthan. The Congress denounced his appointment to the ministry, claiming that it was against the model code of conduct. As per rules, Surendra Pal Singh has six months to get elected as an MLA since his induction as a minister. In the Rajasthan assembly polls held on November 25, BJP won 115 seats and Congress 69.

BJP’s Bhajanlal Sharma took oath as Chief Minister on December 15. Newly elected MLAs Diya Kumari and Premchand Bairwa were made deputy chief ministers. The final tally will decide the fate of several candidates, one of whom is BJP’s Surendra Pal Singh, who has more at stake than just this seat.
