Vishnu Deo Sai takes oath as CM of Chhattisgarh, PM Modi-Amit Shah attend ceremony

This evening, Vishnu Deo Sai was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh. Arun Sao and Vijay Sharma also took oath as the Deputy Chief Minister.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP leader JP Nadda, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, and former Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel were among the dignitaries present at the swearing-in ceremony, which took place in Raipur.

With its selection of Chief Ministers and their deputies, the BJP stunned everyone by balancing the caste dynamics in the three heartland states it recently won.

The BJP nominated a tribal chief minister in Chhattisgarh, along with two deputies: one was a leader of the Other Backward Classes, and other a Brahmin.

Vishnu Deo Sai won the Kunkuri Assembly seat with 87,604 votes. He was a former union minister and the BJP chief in Chhattisgarh.

From 2020 to 2022, he presided over the party as State President for Chhattisgarh. During the first PM Modi cabinet, he served as the Union Minister of State for Steel and Mines.

Before entering politics, Vishnu Deo Sai served as a village sarpanch. In 1989, he was elected as the ‘panch’ of Bagia village panchayat, and without any opposition, he became the sarpanch the following year.

From 1999 to 2014, Vishnu Deo Sai won the Raigarh constituency in four straight Lok Sabha elections.
