In a disturbing incident in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a 20-year-old engineering student named Lareb Hashmi attacked a bus conductor with a meat-cutting knife following a dispute over the ticket fare on a Friday morning. The bus driver, Mangala Yadav, reported that the student had the cleaver in his bag, and the sudden attack prompted them to stop the bus and rush the injured conductor to the hospital.

The conductor sustained injuries to his neck and other body parts, as confirmed by the police. Subsequently, the accused, Hashmi, managed to escape and sought refuge on his college campus. However, law enforcement succeeded in apprehending him at the college. A subsequent attempt to recover the knife took a dangerous turn when Hashmi, in a bid to evade custody, produced a gun from his bag and fired at the police.

During the ensuing confrontation, Hashmi sustained an injury to his leg in retaliatory fire. He has since been arrested and is currently undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital. An official statement indicated that after arresting Hashmi and initiating questioning, the situation escalated when attempting to recover the weapon. The accused fired at the police, leading to a retaliatory exchange where a bullet struck Hashmi’s leg.
