UP Excise Revenue Surpasses Target With ₹5,451.22 Crore Collection In May

Uttar Pradesh’s Excise Department collected ₹5,451.22 crore in revenue in May 2025, exceeding the target of ₹4,900 crore.

Uttar Pradesh’s Excise Department collected ₹5,451.22 crore in revenue in May 2025, exceeding the target of ₹4,900 crore.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Excise and Prohibition, Nitin Agarwal, shared this data on Wednesday. The department achieved 111.25 per cent of its monthly goal.

In May 2024, the department earned ₹4,593.44 crore against the same target. Till May 2025, in the current financial year 2025–26, the department has received ₹9,770.68 crore in revenue.

Illegal Liquor Seizures Increase In 2025

In the same period, the department registered 19,800 cases of illegal liquor production, sale, and smuggling. Officers recovered 5.47 lakh litres of illicit liquor.

Police arrested 3,681 people involved in these activities. Of these, 716 were sent to jail.

Authorities also seized 27 vehicles used in smuggling. The market value of the seized liquor stood at ₹18.53 crore.

In 2024, the department registered 18,026 such cases by May. Officials recovered 5.03 lakh litres of illegal liquor. They arrested 4,330 individuals and jailed 1,466. They also seized 37 vehicles used in smuggling.

The estimated value of the recovered liquor in 2024 was ₹13.48 crore.

The Excise Minister stated that the department will maintain strict action against illegal trade and continue to increase UP Excise revenue.
