Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for heightened vigilance from police and administrative officials throughout the festival season, which spans from Sharadiya Navratri to Chhath. During a video conference with police superintendents, he emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and order during this festive period.
To enhance the festive spirit, the Chief Minister announced that beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will receive free LPG cylinders on Diwali. He instructed district authorities to analyze incidents from previous holidays to ensure a safe environment this year. “Every officer, from beat constables to higher ranks, must contribute to these efforts,” he said.
Adityanath urged district authorities to establish communication with local Durga Puja committees within the next two days. He emphasized that pandal construction should avoid road excavations to maintain smooth traffic flow and that the height of idols must comply with regulations. Additionally, he stressed that the committees must ensure no activities take place that could offend others’ beliefs, including loud music and maintaining cleanliness around the pandals.

Planning for idol immersion routes is essential, with precautions against high-tension power lines crossing these paths. The Chief Minister also highlighted the need for adequate police presence, especially in sensitive areas, to prevent any disruptions during the celebrations.
Anticipating a surge of devotees during Sharadiya Navratri, Adityanath called for increased police deployment at key temples, including Maa Vindhyavasini Dham in Mirzapur and Vishalakshi Temple in Varanasi. He also directed the Transport Corporation to boost bus services on rural routes to accommodate increased travel during the festive season, ensuring that both police officers and transport staff treat passengers courteously.
In light of recent reports of potential threats to rail safety, including gas cylinders and stones being placed on tracks, Adityanath urged enhanced intelligence efforts in collaboration with railway authorities. He also emphasized the importance of village watchmen in ensuring community safety.
The Chief Minister reiterated that there should be no open meat sales or illegal slaughterhouses near holy sites, and that strict enforcement measures must be in place to uphold these guidelines.
