Following the new National Education Policy(2020) UP board to integrate 3 languages in an attempt to make dramatic change in the number of subjects. Uttar Pradesh State Board of High School and Intermediate Education-UP board- is all set to introduce 10 subjects incorporating languages, art, vocational and physical education.
The changes are particularly for the class of 9 and 10th as their number of subjects are to increase from 6 to 10.
Prioritizing the language, authorities have made is mandatory to pick any three from a list of 19 languages. These includes Sanskrit, Kannada, Persian, Nepali, Malayalam, English among others. Notably Hindi will be mandatory for all students.
The board has sought suggestion from all the stakeholders by June 29. Authorities will implement the changes in phase manner for over 50 lakh students of class 9 and 10 studying in 27000 schools.

Details of new changes by up board
The session of 2025-26 of class 9 will witness the change. However, for class 10, it will be implement in 2026-27.
With an announcement of UP board to integrate 3 languages other subjects are also added.
Students can choose any one from music, singing and music playing from the art field. Vocational studies has 31 subjects to choose from.
Home science, anthropology, commerce, NCC, computers, agriculture, and environmental science are the subjects from which students must choose one.
Physical and Health Education will include Moral, Yoga, Sports and Physical Education, and socially useful productive work.
UP board Secretary, Divykant Shukla made it clear that Mathematics, Science, Social Science will be compulsory along with Hindi.
There will be a written examination of 30 marks and an internal test of 70 marks in Arts, physical and vocational education. On the other hand other subjects will have a ratio of 80 and 20.
