PM Modi Praises Schoolgirls’ Banner Highlighting India’s Economic Aspirations In Coimbatore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paused his address at a farmers’ conference in Coimbatore on Wednesday to recognise a banner held by two schoolgirls, capturing the hearts of the audience and drawing widespread attention online.

The students, identified as Sringa and Mithra, displayed a hand-written placard expressing hope for India’s economic future, which read, “I will graduate in a rank 2 economy. I will retire in a rank 1 economy. Thanks to your vision.”

Noticing the banner during his speech, PM Modi instructed event staff to bring it to the stage. The move prompted applause from the crowd, as the Prime Minister acknowledged the girls’ patience and effort, noting that they had held the placard for a long time.

Security personnel promptly retrieved the banner, which the Prime Minister accepted while raising a hand in greeting to the students.

The two girls smiled, visibly thrilled by the unexpected attention, as the translators rendered his Hindi remarks into Tamil. The moment was warmly received by attendees and quickly circulated on social media.

Students Express Gratitude and Optimism

Following the event, Sringa, a Class 8 student, told reporters, “When I graduate, the Indian economy will be second in the world, and when I retire, it will be first. I want to thank the Prime Minister for this future.”

Mithra, who helped create the banner, added that they had prepared it together. She expressed her belief that the BJP’s lotus symbol would ‘bloom in Tamil Nadu’ by the time she is eligible to vote, reflecting her enthusiasm for civic participation.

The brief interaction between PM Modi and the students has gained significant traction on social media, with videos and images of the exchange widely shared. Officials did not comment further, and the Prime Minister continued with his scheduled address after receiving the banner.
