The Uttar Pradesh Bar Council on Tuesday condemned the police lathicharge on lawyers at the Ghaziabad court, calling it “barbaric.” In response, the Council has formed a special investigation committee to conduct a fair and transparent inquiry into the incident.
Council President Shiv Kishore Gaur announced the inclusion of Rohitashv Kumar Agarwal, Madhusudan Tripathi, Arun Kumar Tripathi, Ajay Yadav, and Prashant Singh Atal in the committee. The committee is expected to travel to Ghaziabad for an immediate investigation and will submit its findings to the Bar Council. Gaur criticized the District Judge for summoning police and Rapid Action Force without notifying the High Court or consulting the Bar Council.
The Council insisted on strict action against any officers involved, whether police, administrative, or judicial. It requested the High Court to remove police presence from court premises and take action against those responsible. The Council has also scheduled an emergency meeting for October 30 at 4 p.m. to decide further steps in the matter.
