On Saturday, Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan visited his parliamentary constituency, Vidisha, where he participated in several important local events.
Chauhan inaugurated a private food product industry and offered prayers at the Badhwale Ganesh temple.
He also joined the Holi Milan function and marked a significant milestone by inaugurating a new blood bank at Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College.
During the inauguration of the blood bank, Chauhan expressed his belief in the importance of healthcare, emphasizing that, “After God, it is the doctors, nurses, and healthcare staff who save lives.”
He shared his vision for Vidisha’s medical infrastructure, stating that the Vidisha Medical College, attached to a 750-bed hospital, would be developed into a model institution.
He outlined plans to enhance the college with modern facilities, including an MRI machine, specialized departments such as neurology and cardiology, and improved infrastructure like hostels, nursing staff accommodations, and auditoriums.
Chauhan assured the audience that he would spare no effort to make Vidisha Medical College a center of excellence in healthcare.
Chauhan highlighted Vidisha’s ongoing progress and development. He stressed that both the central and state governments, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, would continue to work together to ensure the region’s growth.

He reflected on his personal experiences, such as the successful liver transplant of a young boy, which he said reaffirmed his commitment to healthcare and public service.
“God saves lives, but we, as public servants, should act as the medium for that saving grace,” he remarked.
A key focus of Chauhan’s visit was his vision for poverty alleviation. He reiterated the government’s commitment to eradicating poverty from every village and locality, ensuring that no one is left without a means of livelihood.
“A poverty-free village is our resolution,” he stated, calling for the effective implementation of government schemes like Ladli Behna and Lakhpati Didi to uplift the people.
He added that the journey must continue beyond Lakhpati Didi, aiming for the transformation of women into ‘Millennium Didi’.
Chauhan also highlighted the ongoing survey under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, which aims to ensure that no eligible person remains without a house. The survey will conclude by March 31.
Chauhan also addressed infrastructure issues in Vidisha, mentioning the challenges posed by poor roads.
He highlighted that the National Highway and improved roads, including a new bridge and tunnel, have greatly eased transportation between Vidisha and Basoda.
He emphasized the importance of further upgrades, particularly in the context of the fourth phase of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
A Vision For A Bright Future
Concluding his visit, Chauhan reaffirmed his commitment to the development of Vidisha, emphasizing that the region is on a steady path of progress.
With a clear focus on healthcare, poverty alleviation, and infrastructure development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan’s efforts aim to bring lasting change to his constituency.
