Nima Hospital

A tragic incident unfolded in the Kalindi Kunj area of Delhi’s Jaitpur on Thursday, where Dr. Javed Akhtar, a 55-year-old practitioner of Unani Medicine, was shot dead at the Nima Hospital, a private nursing facility with three beds.

Authorities quickly responded to the scene, with the District Crime Team and Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team from Rohini arriving shortly after the report of the shooting.

According to staff at the hospital, two teenagers arrived around 1:00 AM seeking a change of dressing.

One of the boys received treatment the previous day for a toe injury. After requesting a prescription, the teenagers entered Dr. Akhtar’s cabin, and moments later, the staff heard a gunshot. When the staff rushed to the cabin, they found Dr. Akhtar fatally injured from a gunshot to the head.

The police are treating the case as a potential targeted killing and are currently reviewing CCTV footage in hopes of identifying the assailants.

Authorities have initiated a manhunt to locate the suspects.

Delhi Minister Blasts Central Government, Says, ‘Delhi Has Become Crime Capital’

In response to the incident, Delhi Minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Saurabh Bhardwaj expressed his outrage, criticizing the Central government and Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena for the deteriorating safety conditions in the capital.

Bhardwaj stated, “Delhi has become crime capital – Gangsters operating with ease, extortion calls and firings and daily murders. Central Govt & @LtGovDelhi have failed in their basis work for Delhi.”

He further accused the Lieutenant Governor of failing to address the rising crime rates, pointing out that he has not met with MLAs or visited police stations.

It’s important to note that Delhi Police operates under the central government rather than the Delhi state government, which complicates accountability in such matters.

This shocking incident comes less than two months after the tragic rape and murder of a female doctor at RG Kar Hospital in West Bengal, raising alarm over the safety of healthcare professionals in the region.

The growing number of violent crimes has intensified calls for stronger measures to protect citizens and maintain law and order.
