Bipin Batra has reportedly been arrested by the CBI for allegedly holding the position of Additional Director of the National Board of tests in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which sets requirements for the nation’s post-graduate tests in contemporary medicine, unlawfully, according to officials.

They claimed that the action was taken in response to a complaint from NBEMS, which claimed that Batra had illegally risen to the top position within a matter of seven years despite being ineligible for both his initial appointment and subsequent advancement.
“There is no gainsaying that this situation could not have been brought about without rampant misuse of powers by several persons within NBEMS which has caused severe loss to and prejudice to the organisation and its credibility,” it said.

According to the complaint, a large amount of NBEMS documents are “surprisingly” absent and “quite obviously have been removed.” “In an inquiry held in this regard, it has been found that Dr Bipin Batra is guilty of en-masse removal of official records from the NBEMS. Apart from the aforesaid, Dr Bipin Batra has also been found guilty of various charges in the said inquiry pursuant to which his services were terminated vide order dated August 23, 2019,” it said.
Ten of the 15 allegations against Batra, who joined NBEMS in 2005, were found to be true throughout the investigation, while three of them were only partially true, it added.
