Tomato Prices Hikes Up To Rs 150, Consumer Requests Government To Regularise Vegetable Prices

Sudden hike in tomato prices has forced the common to cut it’s consumption. In most of the Indian states tomatoes are being sold at Rs 100 to Rs 150 per Kg, according to sources.

In National Capital cost of tomatoes have risen up to Rs 129 per Kg, according to ANI. The customers are really worried about the sudden price increase and requested the “government to think about it.”

As per report from ANI, in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad Tomatoes are being sold at Rs 150 per Kg. Hence, common man is not able to save much as entire income goes in expenses, for this a customer requested the government to intervene and regularise the vegetable prices.

Earlier, the price of Tomato was Rs 30 per kg, after that I bought it for Rs 50 per kg and now it has become Rs 100. Price is going to go up further and we’re helpless, we have to buy, says Suraj Gaur, A resident of Bengaluru.

The major reason behind the price hike, according to farmers is the delayed arrival of monsoon and extreme heat. As per the report the price of tomatoes have soared in Delhi because States like Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have reduced their supply.

As there was a sharp decline in past few months, the abrupt increase in tomato prices could be a new inflation trigger for the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
