They Tried To Wipe The Sindoor, We Responded: PM Modi On Pahalgam Terror Attack

On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi described the brutal terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, as an assault on humanity during the 50th-anniversary celebrations of Sikkim’s statehood, held virtually from Bagdogra.

PM Modi said India’s swift and precise response through Operation Sindoor has dealt a powerful blow to terrorism and revealed Pakistan’s role on the global stage.

The Prime Minister strongly condemned the attack, in which terrorists linked to Pakistan killed 26 unarmed Indian tourists.

“Tourism is not just about leisure, it is a celebration of diversity. But what the terrorists did in Pahalgam was not just an attack on Indians; it was an attack on the soul of humanity, on the spirit of brotherhood,” PM Modi asserted.

Highlighting national unity, the Prime Minister stated, “The terrorists shattered the happiness of many families; they conspired to divide us as Indians. Yet today, the entire world is witnessing a stronger, more united India.”

Speaking firmly, PM Modi said India had responded to terrorism and its backers with ‘unwavering unity’, delivering a strong and unmistakable message.

“They tried to wipe the sindoor off the heads of our daughters, leaving them in grief, but we responded with Operation Sindoor, delivering a fitting blow to terrorism,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi remarked.

Precision Strikes On Terror Bases

Operation Sindoor saw the Indian Armed Forces carry out targeted precision strikes on nine high-value terror bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

The Prime Minister emphasised that Pakistan retaliated by attacking Indian military, civilian, and religious targets after India dismantled the terror hubs.

“When the terror hubs were destroyed, Pakistan, in fear, tried to attack our citizens and armed forces. But even in that, India exposed Pakistan. We destroyed several of their air bases and proved that India can do whatever it wants with precision and promptness,” PM Modi said.

Earlier, PM Modi had reiterated in a speech that Operation Sindoor is ongoing and represents the ‘new normal’ in India’s fight against Pakistan-sponsored cross-border terrorism.
