Telengana assembly election: 20.64% voter turnout recorded till 11 am

Voters lined up in tight security to exercise their right to vote for Telangana’s 119 Assembly constituencies this morning. As per report from ANI, till 11 am 20.64% Voter Turnout was recorded at the polling booths.

There are 2,290 candidates running from 109 national and regional parties, 221 of whom are female and one of whom identifies as transgender. 3.17 crore voters will decide their fate in total. Out of 119 constituencies, 12 seats are reserved for ST while 19 constituencies are reserved for scheduled castes.


Around, 103 legislators are running again, the majority of them are members of the Bharat Rasthra Samithi (BRS), the party in power. 35,655 polling places have been set up around the state for voters to exercise their right to vote. Over 77,000 police personnel have been deployed to maintain law and order and 2.5 lakh staff is engaged in poll duties.

After Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Mizoram, Telangana is the last of the five states to cast ballots in this election cycle, which is regarded as a prelude to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On Sunday, the votes for all five will be counted. Out of 1700 polling stations, 666 are located in Hyderabad.

Taking to X Narendra Modi said, “After Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Mizoram, Telangana is the last of the five states to cast ballots in this election cycle, which is regarded as a prelude to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. On Sunday, the votes for all five will be counted.”

Rahul Gandhi also urged people to vote. He said, “Today, Prajala will defeat Dorala! Brothers and sisters of Telangana, step out and vote in large numbers! Vote to build a ‘Bangaru’ Telangana, Vote for Congress.”

Past voter turnouts for 2018 assembly election was 73.7% while 62.3% people voted in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
