Tamil Nadu Bus Accident: PM Modi Grieves Vicitm’s Death, Announces ₹ 2 Lakh Ex-Gratia For Families

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the Nilgiris bus accident in Tamil Nadu on September 30, which claimed 9 lives.

An Aid of Rs 2 lakh was announced to the victims’ families by the PM.

Taking to X(formerly Twitter) PMO said, “Pained by the loss of lives due to a bus accident near Coonoor in Nilgiris district, Tamil Nadu. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. I pray that the injured recover soon. An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. Those injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM.”

After the driver lost control a tourist bus fell into a gorge and was toppled, 8 people were killed in the accident. Today death of another woman was reported taking the toll to 9.

The victims were travelling back to their homes from a vacation in the hilly area when the incident happened.
