A suspected explosion on the Ramsinghpur-Anupgarh railway line in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar district triggered panic among residents late on Tuesday night, prompting a police and forensic investigation.
The blast occurred near Ramsinghpur, producing a loud sound that echoed across nearby villages, including 58 GB. Alarmed residents rushed out of their homes after hearing the explosion.
No casualties have been reported so far. A train had passed through the section shortly before the incident, officials said.
Police teams from Ramsinghpur and neighbouring stations rushed to the site, followed by senior administrative and railway officials. Sri Ganganagar Superintendent of Police Harishankar also inspected the location with other officers.
Harishankar confirmed that a suspicious explosion had occurred directly on the railway track. However, officials have not established the cause or nature of the blast.
A Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team reached the site to collect evidence and examine the area. Police are investigating all possible angles and have urged people not to draw conclusions before forensic findings become available.
Railway authorities have increased security and launched inspections to assess possible damage to the track.
A senior Divisional Commercial Manager (DCM) said no trains were on the affected section at the time of the inspection. The official confirmed the incident but said its exact nature remained unclear.
Railway personnel are examining the track to determine whether the explosion damaged railway infrastructure. The loud sound also fuelled speculation among residents in surrounding villages.
Several teams joined the investigation, including railway personnel, a CID team and forensic experts.
Railway Senior Section Engineer (PWI) Naval Kishore, Jaitsar Naib Tehsildar Ankit Godara and Anupgarh Additional District Magistrate Ashok Sagwa also reached the site.
Police, forensic experts and railway officials are continuing their investigation to establish the cause of the explosion and assess any damage. Officials have yet to disclose further details.
