Ahead of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s visit to Sambhal on Wednesday, his supporters gathered at the party headquarters to express their solidarity.
Congress worker Itrat Hussain Babar spoke about the message of unity Rahul Gandhi promotes, stating, “Our leader spreads the message of love and brotherhood wherever he goes. He always guides us to open a shop of love and foster peace, ensuring harmony prevails. Hindus and Muslims should live together in unity. The recent incidents are condemnable, especially the actions of both the public and the police.”
Haji Maqbool Alam, another Congress worker, emphasized the purpose of Gandhi’s visit, asserting, “Rahul Gandhi is heading to Sambhal to understand the prevailing situation there. We have come to receive our leader and accompany him.”
Sardar Balbir Singh expressed strong support for the leader, adding, “We will stand with Rahul Gandhi. Through his efforts, we hope the administration will listen to the voices of the people.”
Regarding the unrest in Sambhal, Itrat Hussain Babar clarified, “This is an issue involving the police and a mosque, not a Hindu-Muslim conflict. Rahul Gandhi is visiting to ensure peace and brotherhood are maintained.”
In addition, Congress workers raised slogans at the Ghazipur border, situated at the Delhi-Uttar Pradesh border, in support of Rahul Gandhi’s visit.
On security arrangements, ACP Indirapuram Swatantra Kumar Singh assured that adequate measures were in place, stating, “We have deployed security here for precautionary reasons. We will follow all instructions as directed.”
Entry Restrictions In Place As Rahul Gandhi Prepares To Visit Sambhal
Rahul Gandhi’s visit comes amid a district administration-imposed restriction on the entry of outsiders until 10 December, following violence during a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid.
The survey sparked tensions, claiming the site was once home to a Harihar temple, and clashes erupted during a second survey on 24 November, resulting in fatalities.
Rahul Gandhi, along with newly-elected Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and five Uttar Pradesh MPs, will likely visit Sambhal on Wednesday, which has been tense since the violent clashes in late November.
