Student Get Their Personal Favourite Food In Mid-Day Meal At This Karnataka School

A special school called Panchalinga School is present in the city of Sirsi, which is part of Karnataka’s Uttara Kannada district. From first to seventh grade is offered at this school. Students at this school have the option to choose their meals during their seven years of instruction in addition to receiving the daily midday meal. Students also receive a variety of sweet dishes and other foods in addition to the usual rice and sambar meal. This custom has been a part of the school’s culture for the past ten years, said a teacher from Panchalinga School.

Pancha Bhakshya, which translates to “five types of food,” is the name of the special lunch served to students at Panchalinga School. Bhakshya, which represents sweets like Ladoo, milk candies, and Boli, is a component of this meal. There are rice-based recipes in bhojya. Lehyam includes items like jam and pickles. Foods in choshyam must be sqeezed before consumption. Last but not least, all liquid foods like buttermilk, paayasam, and rasam are considered Paneeyam meals. The combination of these five ingredients yields the delicious Pancha Bhakshya Thali.

Every year as June approaches, class 7th students are asked about their favorite lunchtime meals. The teachers make sure that these items are given to the kids during lunchtime after compiling a list based on their own preferences.

One of the teachers of Panchalinga School, Antira, stated that she wanted the 7th-graders to have happy memories of their time at school. While these children may be eager to continue their education at new institutions, she said that their seven years at Panchalinga School should be remembered fondly.
