Government employee unions across the state have broken new ground with the ‘Namo ke naam raktdan’ campaign.
In a record‑setting effort organised around Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday and associated with Operation Sindoor, they conducted 378 mega blood donation camps, gathering a total of 56,265 units of blood.
Civil servants carried out this large-scale blood donation drive for the first time in homage to a leader’s birthday.
They launched the campaign as part of PM Modi’s birthday celebrations, aiming to translate the spirit of service and sacrifice into a measurable act of compassion.
Participants included employees from various state government departments and public institutions, all contributing blood units through camps set up in cities, towns, and district centres.

A Collective Tribute
This record drive, executed in collaboration with many unions, sought to honour both PM Modi and the success of Operation Sindoor, a military operation that drew widespread public attention.
By centring the campaign around ‘Namo ke naam raktdan’, meaning (donation in the name of the leader), the event underscored collective patriotism and social responsibility.
The response was overwhelming. Thousands of participants, including public sector workers, volunteers, and medical staff, joined the drive.
Organisers emphasised that this achievement was not just statistical, but symbolic, demonstrating unity, public health consciousness, and homage to national service.
The 56,265 units donated are expected to save many lives, relieve shortages in blood banks, and boost awareness regarding voluntary blood donation.
