Some Hindu festival holidays scrapped in 2024 school calendar by Bihar Government

A political uproar has been caused by the Bihar government’s most recent holiday schedule for state government schools before 2024. The Education Department is facing harsh criticism for allegedly cancelling holidays for a number of Hindu holidays.

The school calendar has been called into question by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), who claims it is biased towards Muslims.

Union Minister Ashwini Choubey claims that Bihar government is giving longer Eid holidays and cancelling holidays for Hindu festivals.

Taking to his official X handle, the Union Minister said, “Once again the anti-Hindu face of the uncle-nephew government has came to the fore.”

“On one hand, holidays for Muslim festivals are being extended in schools, while holidays for Hindu festivals are being abolished”, he said further.’

Moreover, National Spokesman for the Bharatiya Janata Party, Dr. Ajay Alok, asserted that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar ought to proclaim the state to be a ‘Islamic state’.

Festivals like Maha Shivratri, Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, and teej will no longer be obsetrved as holidays in 2024 unlike previous year.
