The Tiruppur Police have arrested six Bangladeshi nationals who were found without proper documentation during a verification drive at a local bus stop.
The operation, conducted by the Tiruppur South Police in collaboration with the Special Task Force, identified the individuals—Rasib Tawan, Mohammed Aslam, Mohammed Al Islam, Tanveer, Mohammed Rahul Amin, and Saumun Sheikh—who were lacking any Indian identification, including Aadhaar cards.
According to police officials, the group had arrived in Tiruppur approximately fifteen days prior and had started working in a textile factory in Mudalipalayam, disguising themselves as North Indian laborers. However, when the company conducted an identity check, their true nationality was revealed.
Following the discovery, the factory terminated their employment, prompting the group to seek jobs at another company in Palladam. Unfortunately, they were rejected again due to their lack of documentation.

Police reports indicate that the six individuals had traveled from Guwahati to Chennai before making their way to Tiruppur, a city renowned for its textile industry, which is responsible for 90 percent of India’s cotton knitwear exports and 55 percent of all knitwear exports. The region attracts buyers from 35 countries globally.
The Tiruppur textile sector employs around 600,000 domestic workers and 200,000 migrants, showcasing a rich history of perseverance and entrepreneurship. The industry encompasses a variety of operations, including knitting, dyeing, fabric printing, and embroidery.
Despite a 14 percent decline in knitwear exports during 2023-24, Tiruppur has recently seen a resurgence in orders, attributed to major global players like Primark, Tesco, and Decathlon. Other significant companies, including GAP, Carter’s, and Walmart, have also increased their orders, along with European and Australian retailers like Next, Duns, Target, and Woolworths.
