SHG Women Protest Against Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah To Waive Loan As Promised In Election Campaign

Women form Stree Shakti Sanga, a Self Help Group from Kolar protested in front of Karanataka CM Siddaramaiah’s residence demanding loan waiver, as per the reports from ANI.

Woman have put up the banners which said that laon recovery agents should not visit their villages to collects EMI as the Siddaramaiah promised to waive off loans during election campaigns. One of the protestors said, “Siddaramaiah promised to waive off loans during the election campaign. He should keep his word. We will not repay the loans.”

“Siddaramaiah promised to waive loans when he campaigned near Jalappa College Doddaballapur and in Vemagal. He promised to waive existing loans and give new interest-free loans up to Rs 1 lakh. We will not vote for Congress in Lok Sabha elections if they don’t waive the loans,” said another protestor.

While campaigning on February 13, in Vemagal on Kolar district, Siddaramaiah said that he would waive loans taken from credit NGOs, DCC Bank, and microfinance companies.

This incident happened after a few self help group members tried to tie up a bank representative who went to collect EMI and then refused to repay loans in Bairukuru village in Mulbagal.
