Security Alert! Amarnath Base Camp Will Soon Have Over 29 CCTV Cameras And 4 Body Scanners Installed

An official announced on Monday that almost 29 CCTV cameras would be placed in and around the primary Amarnath pilgrim base camp in Jammu and Kashmir’s winter capital.

Before travelling to Kashmir to pay respects at the 3,880-meter-high holy cave sanctuary of Amarnath, pilgrims from all across the country gather at the Yatri Niwas Bhagwati Nagar in Jammu as their major base camp.

On July 1, the pilgrimage is expected to start from the twin tracks.

The Yatri Niwas will have almost 29 CCTV cameras placed in and around the region, including two large 360-degree cameras, according to officials.

Four body scanners will also be placed at the location, they added, and these cameras will act as an electronic eye to watch the entire region constantly.

In addition to the first air-conditioned communal kitchen halls, the Yatri Niwas basecamp in Jammu’s Bhagwatinagar district will also have closed-circuited fire hydrant systems in all the buildings and installations of the basecamp.

In order to have the basecamp ready by June 20, work is also moving quickly to make repairs, renovations, and aesthetic improvements.

“The work on the repair and renovation of the Yatri Niwas is going on smoothly. The facelifting is going at a fast pace. We expect that Yatri Niwas will be ready by June 20”, an officer told the media.

He said this time facilities have been further improved with the introduction of close-circuited fire hydrants and air conditions eating halls.

“We have installed six ACs each to make two eating halls fully air-conditioned so that pilgrims get better facilities. We have also installed close circuited fire hydrant systems,” he said.

One day before the start of the yatra on July 1, the first group of pilgrims is expected to depart from the Jammu base camp.
