Section 144 Imposed At Raigad, To Avoid Any Casualty

Amid the heavy downpour and incessant rains, the raigad collector has imposed prohibitory orders on the trek route to Raigad fort-Mahad taluka, popular Devkund and Secret Point waterfalls and Tamhini ghat in Mangaon taluka in Raigad district.

Four days after the deadly landslide 27 dead bodies have been recovered and 80 people are still trapped under the debris. While  National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been trying to rescue people, they are discovering more dead bodies as the days are passing by. Bad weather is hampering the ongoing search operations.

Section 144

On the basis of the recommendations of the neighborhood police unit, prohibitory orders have been issued under section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code of 1973.The limits have been put in place to prevent any undesirable incidents, such drowning, boulders falling, or people slipping on slick boulder or rock surfaces.

This limits the movement of people who are gathered in groups or who are driving while intoxicated. Locals, however, complain that because it impacts hospitality and related industries, their way of life is being destroyed.

The Raigad collector in Mahad taluka closed the trek path to the Raigad fort on June 15 due to the possibility of natural disasters following a boulder fall and landslide. There have been reports of visitors drowning or being carried away by a river’s or channel’s abrupt surge in water level. Between Managaon in Raigad and Pune, the Tamhini ghat highway stretch is a stunning beauty, and travelers may be seen taking use of the little waterfalls. Similar limitations will apply to the Varandh Ghat area during the monsoon

“The collector has imposed the restriction for Raigad fort trek route and similar order is awaited for the Varandh ghat. The decision has been taken as a preventive measure in the wake of any natural calamity and safety.” Pratima Pudalwad, sub divisional officer of Mahad informed,

“Our team will ensure implementation of the order.” added Mangaon police inspector Rajendra Patil

Uddhav Thackeray, the leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT), visited the landslide victims who are staying in a neighboring temple. Eknath Shinde, the chief minister of Maharashtra, paid a visit to the disaster area yesterday to assess the rescue and relief efforts. Additionally, he announced a Rs. 5 lakh ex-gratia to the departed’s relatives.

Maharashtra CM Shinde also announced the adoption of the kids who lost both parents in the recent landslide at Irshalwadi village in Raigad district of the state. “In Irshalwadi landslide several kids have lost their both parents. CM Eknath Shinde has announced to adopt these kids and become their guardians. The CM has declared that these orphaned kids 2 years to 14 years of age will be taken care of by Shrikant Shinde Foundation,” said Shiv Sena.Heavy rains continue today in Mumbai and surrounding areas today. Dead bodies decaying

The state government is expected to take a call by monday whether the search operations will be continued or seized. The bodies buried under the debris have started to decay. Given the circumstances of rain continuing and unfavorable weather there is less to no hope of anybody surviving and retrieving people alive.
