Section 144 Imposed In Nuh District: 2 Guards Killed, Internet Services Suspended

Intense communal clash erupted during Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra on Monday in Nuh district. The state government has suspended internet services in the area till Wednesday as a precautionary measure. In view of the situation, Section-144 has also been imposed in the entire area.

Additional Chief Secretary T.V.S.N Prasad said, “A situation of intense communal tension, danger to human life and property, disturbance of public peace and harmony has been created by the protestors, miscreants, agitators and anti-social elements in Nuh district of the State of Haryana The Deputy Commissioner has called a meeting of both the groups at 8.30 pm to resolve the issue peacefully.”

Police said that stones were pelted during a religious procession in Nuh district, near Gurugram, and several vehicles were set on fire. During the stone-pelting, the police dropped tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. In view of the tense situation, internet service was halted in the area. Police force has also been called from other areas.

According to the police, a group of youths stopped the Brij Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra near Khedla Mor in Nuh and started pelting stones. An official said that ‘one or two cars’ involved in the procession were also set on fire. According to reports, the people involved in the procession pelted stones at the youths who stopped them. According to a media report, around 2500 men, women and children have collectively taken shelter in a temple near Gurugram in Haryana.

The Jalabhishek Yatra was flagged off by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District President Gargi Kakkar from Civil Lines, Gurugram. A contingent of police was also deployed along with the procession. Police told that about 20 people were injured in this clash, but the fixed number has not been told yet.

According to some claims, the reason for the clash was an alleged objectionable video posted on social media by a Bajrang Dal worker in Ballabhgarh. Nuh’s station in-charge Hukam Singh said, “The situation is stable in the area.” After Nuh, reports of violence are also coming from Sohna. It is being told that there too the miscreants created a ruckus and vandalized many vehicles.
