The Supreme Court may soon hear a petition seeking to transfer all cases related to the Gyanvapi complex, adjacent to the Kashi Vishwanath temple, to the Allahabad High Court. Four women petitioners have demanded the transfer of 15 cases currently pending in lower courts.
Petitioners Seek Unified Hearing
The petitioners, who seek the right to worship at the Gyanvapi complex, argue that all cases should be heard together to avoid contradictory rulings. Nine cases are pending in the District Court, and six in the Civil Judge’s Court. They are requesting a single hearing in the High Court on issues involving historical facts, archaeology, and constitutional rights.
Delay in Gyanvapi Case Cited
A previous petition by the Hindu side expressed concerns over the delayed hearing of the Gyanvapi Shringar Gauri case. Petitioners demanded the High Court handle all related cases, including the 1991 original suit, with a three-judge bench similar to the Ayodhya case. The case also involves demands for a scientific investigation of the Shivling-like structure found in the mosque’s Wazukhana.
