Amid the biting cold, a strong sense of public service was on display in the Sarojini Nagar Assembly constituency on Monday, as BJP MLA Dr Rajeshwar Singh led a large-scale blanket distribution drive at his residence in Aashiyana.
As part of the initiative, 10,000 blankets were handed over to more than 150 party office-bearers and workers from all six mandals. Eminent members of society were also involved for onward distribution to the needy across the constituency.
This annual winter campaign has become a regular feature of Dr Rajeshwar Singh’s public outreach. So far this season, over 25,000 blankets have already been distributed.
The initiative stands out for its broad participation. It involves not only BJP workers but also Tara Shakti Centre coordinators and socially conscious citizens. This has lent the campaign the form of a people’s movement.
The underlying objective, according to the organisers, is to ensure that no individual at the lowest rung of society is left helpless during the harsh winter months.
Alongside the relief effort, a Party Office-Bearers and Workers’ Dialogue Programme was also organised. During the interaction, the MLA engaged directly with party workers, heard public grievances, and issued directions for their prompt resolution.
The programme also featured the felicitation of meritorious student Pallavi Gautam, a resident of Sareyan, Chandraawal. She was presented with a laptop in recognition of her achievements.
The campaign once again underlined Dr Rajeshwar Singh’s emphasis on service, compassion and social responsibility. It also reinforced his continued engagement with the people of Sarojini Nagar beyond electoral politics.
