Swati Maliwal
The Rouse Avenue Court granted permission to Aam Aadmi Party’s Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal to travel abroad from November 2 to November 15, providing her relief in the ongoing recruitment-related case linked to the Delhi Women’s Commission. Maliwal requested permission to attend a United Nations program and visit her sister. Last year, Maliwal also attended Harvard University’s Annual India Conference, where she shared insights on the role of women in Indian democracy.
Harvard’s Annual India Conference, held annually in the U.S., draws prominent leaders from India and abroad. Maliwal was a featured speaker at the event organized on February 11 last year.
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) continues to investigate the case, originally filed in August 2016 by former MLA Barkha Shukla Singh. The complaint alleged that Maliwal, as Delhi Women’s Commission Chairperson, appointed individuals associated with AAP in violation of standard procedures. Singh’s complaint named three appointees with AAP affiliations.
Despite the ongoing case, the court’s decision allows Maliwal to proceed with her plans to attend the UN program and visit family, marking a temporary relief amid the investigation.
