The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit declared as fake a video circulating on social media that alleges the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) instructed private broadcaster ABP News to remove an interview.
In a statement shared on X, PIB Fact Check clarified that the claim was entirely baseless and urged users not to fall for such unverified content spreading online.
The Fact Check post confirmed that the alleged interview had neither been deleted nor restricted. It remains accessible to viewers on ABP News’s official YouTube channel as well as its television broadcasts.
Providing evidence to support its clarification, PIB also shared a direct link to ABP News’s original post on X, confirming that the interview continues to be available to the public.
Reiterating the government’s ongoing efforts to counter misinformation, PIB Fact Check emphasised the importance of verifying content before sharing. “Please do not believe such unverified claims,” it stated, highlighting how misleading posts can easily gain traction and distort public discourse.
Authorities have repeatedly warned users to rely on official channels for updates and clarifications, as fabricated news continues to circulate across social media platforms.
This clarification comes amid growing concerns about the spread of digitally altered videos and misinformation targeting media institutions and government entities.
The PIB Fact Check division, under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, routinely debunks such false claims to maintain transparency and public trust in verified information.
By confirming that the ABP News interview remains publicly available, the bureau reaffirmed its commitment to combating fake narratives and ensuring accurate reporting in India’s digital space.
