Robots And Advanced Tech To Ensure Fire Safety At Maha Kumbh 2025

As part of the preparations for Maha Kumbh 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services are deploying cutting-edge firefighting technology, including robots and specialized equipment, to ensure a zero-fire incident event.

Additional Director General of Police (ADG) Padmaja Chauhan conducted a surprise inspection at the Fire and Emergency Services headquarters in Prayagraj on Monday to review the fire safety measures for the event.

During the inspection, officials showed ADG Chauhan a firsthand look at the extensive firefighting equipment deployed during Maha Kumbh.

They held a grand rehearsal to demonstrate the use of state-of-the-art equipment such as smoke exhausters, fire retardant sprays, hydraulic cutters, and portable extinguishers, along with a mock drill featuring new technologies like firefighting robots, ATVs, and foam tenders.

“We fully commit to making this Maha Kumbh a zero-fire incident event,” Chauhan said. “Following Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s directives, we have designed our fire safety measures to handle any emergency swiftly, using the latest technology to control fires immediately.”

Firefighting Robots To Tackle Fire Safety Challenges

One of the most innovative additions to this year’s fire safety measures is the deployment of firefighting robots, a first for the Maha Kumbh.

These robots are equipped with advanced technology to extinguish fires in hard-to-reach areas, such as narrow and congested zones, where traditional firefighting equipment might be less effective.

Pramod Sharma, Chief Fire Officer and Nodal Officer for Maha Kumbh 2025, further elaborated on the drill, which included the use of firefighting robots, articulated water towers, and fire bullets to control simulated fire incidents.

The robots, capable of navigating difficult terrains, will play a critical role in ensuring fire safety in the densely packed fairgrounds.

Chauhan also inspected the facilities, including barracks, stores, and messes at the Fire and Emergency Services headquarters, ensuring that all resources meet the high standards required for an event of this scale.

In a follow-up meeting with officers and staff assigned to Maha Kumbh duties, ADG Chauhan emphasized the importance of reinforcing fire safety infrastructure.

She instructed the team to ensure proper wiring and electrical connections at the event’s tents and pandals, with all installations meeting fire safety regulations.

Accompanying ADG Chauhan during the inspection were key officials, including Pramod Sharma, Ravindra Shankar Mishra, Anurag Singh, and Saurabh Kumar Singh, who are overseeing fire safety preparations for the event.

With these advanced technologies and rigorous safety measures in place, the authorities are confident that Maha Kumbh 2025 will not only be a spiritually enriching experience for millions of devotees but also a model of safety and preparedness.
