Red Fort Showcases ‘New India’ Under PM Modi’s Leadership

India marked its 79th Independence Day with a vibrant celebration at the Red Fort, offering a powerful glimpse of ‘New India’ as envisioned by PM Modi. The event reflected the nation’s aspirations to become a Viksit Bharat (developed India) by 2047.

PM Modi Leads Independence Day Celebrations

Prime Minister Modi hoisted the National Flag from the ramparts of the Red Fort before delivering a rousing address dedicated to the theme of ‘New India’.

The celebrations projected an image of a prosperous, secure, and empowered nation, inspiring renewed determination toward continuous growth and development.

A highlight of the day was a formation of 2,500 cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, alongside My India volunteers, seated to form the ‘New India’ logo.

A ceremonial shower of flowers preceded the Prime Minister’s speech, and the programme concluded with the NCC cadets and volunteers singing the National Anthem.

Warm Welcome and Military Honours

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh received PM Modi upon his arrival.

The Prime Minister inspected a Guard of Honour of 96 personnel before moving to the ramparts.

Top military leaders, including CDS Gen Anil Chauhan, Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi, Naval Chief Adm Dinesh K. Tripathi, and Air Chief Marshal AP Singh, greeted him.

Flying Officer Rashika Sharma assisted in the unfurling of the National Flag.

This year’s ceremony emphasised inclusivity, with special guests from across India in attendance. They included:

  • Top-performing farmers from the Medicinal Plants Conservation Scheme.
  • Sarpanches from open-defecation-free-plus villages.
  • Entrepreneurs from the PM Van Dhan Yojana.
  • Outstanding students under the PM-Daksh, Shreyas, and Shrestha schemes.
  • High-achieving interns from the Prime Minister’s Internship Programme.
  • Sanitation workers recognised for excellence in cleanliness drives.

Tribal children from the Andaman and Nicobar Islands joined the event. Over 1,500 participants in traditional attire showcased India’s cultural richness and diversity.
