Congress Member of Parliament Rahul Gandhi will address an ‘Aabhaar Sabha’ of party workers from Raebareli and Amethi in Raebareli on Tuesday.

The meeting will witness the presence of key figures including Sonia Gandhi, All India Congress Committee General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi, and Amethi MP K L Sharma.

This gathering marks the Congress’s first such event in Uttar Pradesh following the declaration of the 2024 Lok Sabha poll results.

The party’s decision to hold thanksgiving meetings and rallies across all 80 Lok Sabha seats from 11 to 15 June aims to express gratitude to voters for their support towards the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance candidates in the recently concluded Parliamentary polls.

The INDIA bloc, a coalition between Congress and Samajwadi Party, clinched victory in 43 out of the 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.

The Congress secured six seats while the Samajwadi Party emerged victorious in 37 constituencies.

Rahul Gandhi, who triumphed in the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat, defeated Uttar Pradesh Minister and BJP candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh by an impressive margin of 3,90,030 votes.

Similarly, K L Sharma wrested Amethi from Union Minister Smriti Irani, securing a victory by a margin of 1,67,196 votes.

The reclaiming of Amethi, often considered a stronghold of the Nehru-Gandhi family, holds significant symbolism for the Congress party.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Smriti Irani had unseated Rahul Gandhi from Amethi, winning by approximately 55,000 votes.

With the tide turning in their favor, the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance is gearing up to acknowledge the overwhelming support received from the electorate through these thanksgiving gatherings, as they continue to chart their course in Uttar Pradesh politics.
